  • Hi,

Please close Visual Studio process from Task Manager and then repair VS from Control Panel.

If repairing did not resolve this issue, please run VS under safe mode using devenv.exe /safemode(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241278(v=vs.120).aspx ), I just doubt whether some third-party VS add-ins affected VS.

If the issue will disappear under safe mode, I suggest disabling those third-party VSPackages from Visual Studio Tools->Extensions and Updates.

If the issue still exists under safe mode, please run VS with devenv.exe/log: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241272.aspx to collect some log information. After that, you can check activity.xm log and find HR error from this log. If it shows some packages corrupt, please reinstall your VS.

If you got freeze even when you repair VS from Control Panel, please uninstall your VS and reinstall it.And I also doubt whether there is anything wrong with your operation system or user account.

Please create a new user account and run VS. If you can run without problem, then your user profile is corrupt and you have to create a new accout and copy current user info to it. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile It is for Win 7 and I don't know your OS version.

you also can do some file check or repair on your OS. Such as Sfc /scannow  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833.

    Best regards,

  • Aren't you able to repair or uninstall too?

Your installation did end without any kind of error right?

Anyway have a look at these common ones:
