Master page changes are not reflected on a site

Question
-
I have a migrated application from 2007 to 2010. I have a custom master page 'intranet.master' which was deployed as a feature. Now, I have changed the master page to include additional css files and javascripts to make use of the third party feed back control. Re-installed my feature and activated on a particular web app. But, I could not see the changes in the web app. Any help?Tuesday, November 8, 2011 3:14 PM

I edited the Master Page in the Master Page gallery and it went well for me. I am not sure how the feature is helping me out here, I think it is just to apply the master page to the site.

When you open the page in SharePoint designer, is your master page your new master set as the default master?
In your feature did you add a module to place the files in the correct location?
Check those two points.

Hi Gary, Thanks for your reply. The interesting fact here is that, if I open the master page in the designer for this web app, I could not see the changes in the master page. Am I doing something wrong in activating the feature. Following are the steps I followed.
1. Installed the feature with 'force' attribute
2. If I open Central admin in designer and see the master page, the changes are there
3. Now, I activated this feature on a top level site of a Particular web app. But, this is not an updated master page.
Am I missing something in between step 2 and step 3?

As I mentioned, I have a feature delivered master page. Do I need to upload the master page to master page gallery as an additional step? I am expecting that on activating the feature, the master page changes should apply automatically to the site without uploading the master page to master page gallery. Any comments?Thursday, November 10, 2011 4:57 PM
