IronPython and Mono RRS feed

I want to use IronPython to write an application in Python, but I'm confused about how to get it to work on Linux as well.

Does Linux need Mono to be able to run a Windows Forms app?

If the Linux installation has Mono installed, does that mean it will be able to run the app without any Linux-specific alterations to my code?

I'm not using Mono so this is just an estimated guess. From what I know of it mono is just scratching the surface of the latest .NET 3.0/3.5 technologies while IronPython is even a step beyond because it doesn't use the CLR but a DLR.

For running winforms apps you have to convert them to use GTK#.
