Snapshot How-To's RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am trying to get a better understanding of how Azure Storage Account snapshot works.  I have a few questions hoping to getting some answers:

    1. Is snapshot only applies to Blobs?  What about Tables and Queues?
    2. How do you perform a snapshow?  Thru UI, Powershell, or custom C# code?
    3. Is there a pricing calculator for the cost incurred?
    4. What is the best practice for backing up Storage Accounts?
    5. Any 3rd party tool?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

    >>1. Is snapshot only applies to Blobs?  What about Tables and Queues?

As far as I know, snapshot can protect our Blobs Against Application Errors, I don't find resource about snapshot apply to tables or Queues.

    >>2. How do you perform a snapshow?  Thru UI, Powershell, or custom C# code?

we can use rest API, C# code etc..

    >>3.Is there a pricing calculator for the cost incurred?

As far as I know, there is no snapshot pricing calculator, however, please refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh768807.aspx to understand its billing.

There are a few backup tools available however and not a single one perfect to match everybody expectation. Please have a look at following article, hope it is useful for you.
