Cannot Download Large DVD ISO Images RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does Microsoft support a download of DVD-ISO files larger
than 2GB.  I cannot get a large DVD-ISO file from Microsoft
Download Service that is larger than 2GB.  The content is
    truncated.

For security reasons, I am required to go through a Windows
proxy server that is based on a 32-bit operating system.

It appears that the proxy server is enforcing a 2GB data
transfer limit across an open TCP connection.  Download
managers usually start at the beginning of the file if the
transfer is aborted - thus prohibiting the ability to
reassemble a useful DVD-ISO image at the client.

Other sites - (i.e. Debian mirror sites) are configured to
use software that can download component files and reassemble
DVD-ISO images on the client computer for distribution and updates.

I know of no such capability supported by the Microsoft
    Download Service.

    Good systems are supportable

  • Waking up a rather old thread:

I see the same problem here with files larger than 4 GB.

It is a limitation in our network configuration, which I cannot change (although we do not use a proxy server here). Downloading these same large files on other locations works, but I'd prefer to use the limited bandwidth at home for other purposes.

So I also would like to see the ability to split and reassemble such large files.

    Best greetings from Germany
