Docker microsoft/iis image RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have started to learn Docker and I am impressed with it, particularly because MS provides support for containers in Windows Server 2016/Windows 10. So far I do not have "blurry" parts in what I have learned apart from the following - what is inside docker image, for instance microsoft/iis? To be more precise I want to know what lightweight OS in image is consisted of in comparison with full OS found in container host. In most pictures of containers OS does not exist at all but on the other hand ultra lightweight OS in images/containers is always mentioned in each book about docker and containers overall.<contentxferbho id="87FD7BE7-AD58-4878-9AF6-8540EC34D21D"></contentxferbho>

  • Welcome to containers!

You can find a lot of stuff on the Windows Containers hub page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/windowscontainers/.

But specifically about internals, you may find this talk from DockerCon interesting: https://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/containers/DockerCon-16-Windows-Server-Docker-The-Internals-Behind-Bringing-Docker-Containers-to-Windows
