OData Query with SQL Server 2017

    Question

  • Hello SQL Server Community,

I am migrating now from Excel 2016 to SQL Server 2017. I used to run my queries, connecting to OData through Excel by using the Data menu/New Query and then create a "Blank Query" running my script to enter data from OData source, that worked fine.
I am trying the same with the SSMS (2017), but could not find how. Or, any other way to run the query filling up my new SQL database (2017) would be ok too.

Please, does anyone know how to do this, if hopefully possible?

    Thank you!

  • Hello,

I don't understand what you are trying to do. SQL Server don't offer a OData web services, you have to create an own one if you want to get data through a web service.

  • I was reading about a new OData connector for SQL Server 2017 but it seems only work with Dynamics, here
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/integration-services/what-s-new-in-integration-services-in-sql-server-2017
Anyway, today I am using Excel to load data from OData source by using Power Query thought there is a similar way to do this with SQL 2017.
