A Newbie, building his first table, has a few easy questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • 1. How do I carry the variables from a cluster of checkboxes to the WHERE clause of an SQL statement that populates a repeater table? Example:

The user selects options 3 and 5 from the checkboxes.  The SELECT statement in the repeater table reads “SELECT [Col1], [Col2], [Col3] from Table1 WHERE [Col1] = ‘3’ or [Col1] = '5’, where ‘3’ and’5’ are represented as variables coming from the checkboxes.

    2.  If a query returns just a value of ‘B’ or ‘M’ from the database, how do I translate those values into “Big’ or ‘Medium’ in the table?

    3.  If I want to change the color or the data returned based on a single value within the returned data, how do I do this? If, for example, Col2 returns a value of R, how do I turn the color of all the values to red?

Thanks a lot for any help.  Like I say, I’m new to this but learning.  Someday, I hope to be able to return the favor.

  • Just pointing out that your title is misleading.  That is not a table question.  It's an asp.net question (I assume from your use of the repeater term).
