Customizing File-->New-->My Templates dialog to add custom templates RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I am looking for a solution to the issue where we would to add our custom created template items to show up in the dialog. Is there a way to do it manually or via programatically.

    Is the word 2010 dialogs also are extensible similar to ribbons and back stage views?

    You can change template of a document via calling:

    ActiveDocument.AttachedTemplate = "file path"

    If you means template add-in, you can use:

    Application.AddIns.Add "FilePath", True

    To add them.

    For your second question, no. You can create a custom dialog for your Office application, but it's much easier than back stage or ribbon. We don't need to use some tools , such as VSTO and CustomUI editor, to write some XML code. All you want to do can be implemented by using Userform, see:

    I hope this helps.
