What is the trick of geeting SharePoint 2007 to work on Windows 2008 r2?

We are upgrading to SharePoint 2010. We can not upgrade in place on the Production so we made a clone to so the upgrade in place. The only problem is that the base OS needs to upgraded to Windows 2008 r2 and SharePoint 2007 does not seem to like it. So what do we need to do?

Hi AZ_Grizzly,

WSS/MOSS RTM & SP1 is not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2. But it is supported with MOSS SP2. However if you try to run the installer without SP2 slipstreamed, it would be blocked and you cannot continue.

The only way to install MOSS 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2 is to slipstream MOSS Service Pack 2 into the installation media. Please go through the following link for the installation details:
