what does .pkgdef do in VS2008??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi experts,

I've noticed that after building a visual studio integration package project in vs2008, a .pkgdef file will get generated automatically..

I'm confused on what this file is and what i can do with it..

I know that in vs2010, we will have a new file-based package registeration which will utilize .pkgdef and we don't need the .reg file anymore,, but what can do with a .pkgdef file in vs2008???

could some expert on this shed some light on this? i'm really confused...

    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks, B.C.

  • Pkgdef files could be used to extend an Isolated Shell in VS2008.  However, it was not a supported scenario to extend the regular Visual Studio skus with pkgdef files.  Feel free to ignore this file if you are not targetting an Isolated Shell application.
