Problems Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 RRS feed

I am running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition.  My automated updates wants to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 but it keeps failing.  If I try to instal it from Micorsoft Updates it also fails.  I get the following message:

SL2C7.tmp - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

    Process id=0xfb8 (4024) Thread id=0xfc8 (4040)

Click OK to terminate the application

Click CACEL to debug the application

Sometimes if I click CANCEL it just comes back that the instalation failed.  Other time I get the following dialog box after trying to debug:

    SL309.tmp - No debugger found.

Registered JIT debugger is not avaiable.  An attempted to launch a JIT debugger with the following command resulted in an erro of 0x2 (2).  Please check your computer settings.

    cordbg.exe !a 0x2f0

Can anyone help me with this and let me know what I need to do?
