open workflow to outer world with wcf - .net 3.5 vs 4 + best practise suggestions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I have solution in .net 3.5 ( wf as well ). Soon planning to migrate to .net 4 but first I have to open workflow services to outer world so it could be accessed and controlled from for example another pc. My choice is wcf.

Point is to host workflow services in a wcf service. Wcf service would be hosted in a windows service as iis here would be a too big load for a system i think ( windows 7 pro, sometimes 2core atom ).If you have some experience here please share it with me

As I read Wcf in .net 4 is 'better'. My doubt is if I will be able to integrate wcf 4 with wf 3.5 and what pitfalls i could encounter. Or maybe use wcf 3.5. But then later i will have two migrations instead of one: wf and wcf.

Is there a person who had similar brainstorming as mine and have solved this problem?

If you have some other suggestions just give it a try ...
