Have some queries in Storage Service RRS feed

  • Question

  • As we know, the Windows Azure includes three parts: Compute Service, Storage Service and Fabric Controller. The Compute Service run in a VM instance. Where does Storage Service run in? From some documenation, I see the Storage Service also have load balance feature. How can I understand it in Storage Service?

  • Azure Storage Services are  a massively scalable storage service implemented completely independently of Compute Services. In Compute Services, load balancing is really only a round-robin scheme on the network endpoint for the service. In Storage Services, load balancing refers to the possibility fo data being moved around to minimize hot spots on one part of the storage system.

You can find more about Azure in the whitepapers - speciically, here and here.
