Implementing Microsoft OS Descriptors in USB - RNDIS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am using RNDIS function driver under Windows Embedded Compact 7 to communicate with Windows Host PC over USB. The connection works fine, but there is an issue with driver installation, when device gets connected. For the moment it is necessary to manually select "Microsoft Corporation NDIS Network Adapter" driver to make Windows install the correct driver. I would like to skip this stage and configure my device so, that host PC automatically selects this driver without sking user to select it.

To do that, I have cloned RNDIS function driver, where I can edit USB class and subclass IDs. But to my knowledge, it is also necessary to implement Microsoft Extended Compatibility IDs (in MS OS Descriptors). I have never done that. Does anybody have experience in this topic? Can I get a tip, how to do it (or is it really the right way)?
