RDL file backward compatibility (from VS2005 to VS2003) RRS feed

  • Question

I was just curious it's probably impossible but here goes...

i created a Report (.rdl) in VS2005 but im trying to deploy it on a server with .net framework 1.1 on it. Is it possible to convert the rdl file to work with VS2003?

  • Well since nobody from here responded for "known" reasons...

i might as well just post the solution

Make a copy of the rdl file to a seperate location then open the code view. It should be in xml. search for any element called <ItemHeight> or <ItemWidth> delete that and its corresponding closing tags. Now you can open it in VS 2003. You should be good to go.

  • Ok but HOW did you consume it?  Did you use a control?

  • i didn't consume it. Do you mean using it with the ReportViewer control? No. This was all done under a Report Project in VS 2000 BI.
The rdl was to be deployed under a ReportServer in a machine that had SSRS 2000 installed on it.
