An unhandled exception of type 'System.ExecutionEngineException' occurred in Microsoft.Expression.DesignSurface.dll RRS feed

  • Question

  • Morning,

Quick question.... I've downloaded and installed the Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview, which came with .NET 4.5. After installed, I am still able to run and work with VS2010 without hassle, but it's completely crippled my Expression Blend 4.1 SP1 Install, and when I try to launch Blend, it gives me the usual, Debug Program dialog. If I choose to debug with VS, the following exception details comes up:

    System.ExecutionEngineException was unhandled
Message=Exception of type 'System.ExecutionEngineException' was thrown.
      InnerException:

    with the following details:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ExecutionEngineException' occurred in Microsoft.Expression.DesignSurface.dll

Not to be a pain or anything, but I really wanna delve into VS11, and don't really wanna undo what I've done, but I have a huge project meeting this morning which will involve work to be done in Blend, but as it stand, I cannot launch the bladdy thing.

Is there a fix around anywhere for this, or something I can do to fix it myself? Must I attempt reinstall of Blend?

    Tks

  • Good post Chuck, thank you.

I applied the fixes suggested and Blend is alive again!  Just make sure when you launch the command prompt you launch it as "Administrator" otherwise you will not have the required level of permissions to make the necessary changes.

    Thanks again:

  • Awesome! Thanks Chuck! That works like a bomb! Much appreciated. I can once again get my work done with a smile... except... I should hear the noise today for not getting my work done yesterday. Thanks again!
