Infrared emittor Kinect v2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

Kinect v1 had a property to forcefully put the Infared Emitter off. We have a test-case where the emitter might cause problems / is unwanted.

Is this same property available on the Kinect v2? It has a huge red emitter coming out. Is there a way to put it off?

    Thanks!

  • There's no function in the SDK to my knowledge.

But keep in mind the IR emitter is needed for the IR, depth, skeleton and face streams. So you're essentially turning your Kinect v2 into an expensive webcam by turning the emitter off :)

Doesn't this only effect the Infrared stream? See docs.

Gets or sets a Boolean value indicating whether the infrared stream is disabled. The default value is false.

I should check how it works on Kinect v1.

  • But depth is derived from IR, and all the tracking (body, hand state, Face, FaceHD) are derived from depth (and also color in case of FaceHD)
