How to open a Closed Task Pane / Content viewer in Office Add-in RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've created a Excel Office Add-in, It's working fine. While closing the Excel, I've closed the task pane. From that moment, even after running the app multiple times. I was not able to see the Task pane in my right hand side of the Excel App.

Could you please let me know how to bring it back.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Jayakanth

  • Hi Naga,

    >> How to open a Closed Task Pane / Content viewer in Office Add-in

How did you run the app multiple times? Did you develop app for Office (Office Add-in)? If so, you could reopen task pane by clicking Insert->Add-ins->My Apps->your task pane.

    Best Regards,

    Edward

  • Hi Naga,

Could you confirm the questions below?
    1. How did you run the app multiple times?
    2. Did you develop app for Office (Office Add-in)?
    3. Task pane is not visible when you run your add-in project?

For not seeing add-ins option inside Insert Tab, I suggest you click File->Options->Customize Ribbon, and add add-ins.

    Best Regards,

    Edward

  • Hi Edward,

Yes, I'm developing App for Office Add-in from Visual Studio 2013. After creating the app and running it for the first time I did see right side Task pane showing the app name and Get data from selection button. I mean Home.html content. before closing the Excel by mistake I closed the task pane also. Then later I tried to run the app many times. now, I can't see the home.html content. I mean task pane at all. I tried the above approach. it still didn't show up. I was not able to share the screenshot as it throws different error "e-mail needs to be validated for including images." Appreciate your assistance.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Jayakanth

  • Hi JayaKanth,

Did you mean run your task pane project from VS2013 with F5?

If you create a new task pane, will it show up? For screenshot, you could upload it to oneDrive, and then share us the link.

    Best Regards,

    Edward

  • Hi

    Apologies for the delayed response.

Looks it's a Visual Studio Issue. I was able to access the task pane from other server.

    Regards,
