confused about the windows store. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have developed a few apps for windows 7 phone and uploaded via https://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us where i pay a yearly subscription. Now is windows 8 completely different. Do i need to pay another subscription to develop for windows 8. I only say this as when i browse to the dashboard here > http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/apps/  it asks me to pay again.

Will my windows 7 apps be available in the windows 8 store. As some say they will work on 8 as well when browsing the store eg: http://www.windowsphone.com

    Thanks

  • Hi Vasu,

The Windows Phone developerment program and the Windows Store (for PC and Tablet) development program are separate.  To developer apps for both, you will need two separate subscriptions.  I apologize for the confusion.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Izeko,

The link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/apps/  is to the Windows 8 Store for PC and Tablets.

Your Windows Phone Dev Center account will allow you to publish apps for Windows 7 and 8 using the same account: http://dev.windowsphone.com

Just make sure you have the latest version of the SDK installed to minimize any issues when you test your apps.

  • Dear Eric

I have subscribed for Windows Store Apps developer program by paying 99 USD. Do I again need to pay 99 USD to subscribe for Windows Phone Apps developer program?

Is one subscription not sufficient to develop apps for both Phones and PCs? Please help me
