Custom Content Control for Word 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am creating Word templates with Content Controls and like to show multi select drop down list to the users.

I am not sure whether it's possible to use custom content controls in word 2007.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Hi Stanley

It is not possible to create custom content controls or customize existing content controls. So, no, you can't create a multi-select dropdown list as a content control.

As I recall, the legacy ActiveX dropdown can be used to multi-select. The other possibility would be a VSTO document or add-in that embeds a Windows Forms dropdown list on the document surface.

Other than that, you'd have to put the list "outside" the document surface (custom task pane, for example) and have that write to a control on the document.
