No System Restore Has Been Made On Your Computers System Drive, Issue RRS feed

  • Before I upgraded Win7 to Win8 I made sure to make a System Restore Point

    Now when I'm trying to do a System Restore it doesnet find a system restore point.
    I did not install the Win8 with Developers Tool. And there is a File in C: named Windows.old

  • You should have not upgraded Win7 to Win8 in the first place. You should have installed the Preview on a separate partition or inside a virtual machine.

    System Restore is not designed to work for Windows upgrades, but for application and hardware changes only.

    The Windows.old (and other .old folders if available) contains data from your previous operating system.

    The only supported way to go back is to make a clean install of Windows 7. However, you might try your luck by following the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971760/en-us and restore the Windows 7 from the windows.old backup.

    In every case, don't forget to backup your data before trying.
