  • Hello,

Can you write a little more info how do you plan to keep WSP+ version with development of "normal" WSP? Lets go with this scenario:

    1. WSP 1.0 is being released
    2. WSP+ 1.0 is released by you
    3. WSP 1.1 is released with some new features
    4. ... what now? Do you plan to send your updates to WSP team or do you plan to implement them everytime when nev WSP version is being released? Or maybe you plan to develop your own WSP+ version based on some picked WSP version and don't look back on new features added to newer versions of WSP?
I would have no problems with donating to someone who would be interested in developing this project (bugfixing and updating it more frequently than it is being done now) and add features which are being requested on forums. I'm wondering how many people would be interested in supporting you. Can anyone interested write something to let Matt Crook know how many people are interested?

  • Plus+ is simply an add-on for WSP, not a complete WSP release. It was to help let me stream new updates and give a few extra's people really would like (templates being on the top 5). I might even make a WiKi style update system. Where the users can make changes via a web browser, I test, and then test somemore, and release. The updater will run at 2 am, or at a time of your liking. This will allow a forum like bug fix system. Again, I am not too sure how to go about it, yet.

As for the features, as people request them, I will do a monthly poll, on the top five requests, and which ever wins will be worked on for up coming releases.

As for the plans to include Media services 2008, I am working hard on it, as its been a while since I have used WMI.

    Thanks for your great questions.

  • Hi

Any screenshots? ETA to release? and Hell yeah to the donation.  Add it in the system maybe so when admins login it has PayPal donation button like lots of wordpress plugins do!

  • If your interested, I have played with themes and templates since the DNP days. You can check it out at
It's just a mod I made while learning the workings of DNP (now known as WSP). I just remember getting about 20 emails a month requesting help with creating one for them or etc. I will go about looking for about 10 decent free templete's which should be a great start while adding more support for others in future releases (the bcu mod not included lol). This will allow for more then the basic "energy blue" theme that is currently offered. I hope at such time to have a update system in place, as well as some of the other features that I have listed, again, depends if the first release would be good enough to just include the update system and extended themes?

    Keep me posted,

  • Just wanted to update everyone on the project as I get started this weekend! I will be releasing a teaser which will have one new templete for the portal. This will be ready by the end of the month.

If this new theme/skin works, will continue the project, as I already have code in place for auto_updates (the add-on for updates in WSP)

Will post in a few weeke, along with screen shots.

  • Bump, just the heads up I have set a release date for beta testing. The installer will check to see what you have the portal installed or not. Once passed, it upgrades your WSP to WSP+. For auto_updates to work, it simply install on all other "non-portal" servers to offer upgrade protection. Its that simple. The updater may or may not be based off the BITS system currently used by Windows Update, I haven't played with this yet. There is going to be a preview for those that are interested.

  • Hi,

    I'm very interested in this.

Regarding to the themes and skins, I started a project on CodePlex which consists of a Windows Forms application for creating new themes for WebsitePanel.
This might be interesting for you to check out:

This is off course not as customizable as creating themes from scratch, but there already quite some features implemented. Let me know if you're interested in this project and/or if you are missing features.

  • Because each theme or skin is in its own directory, I am simply creating themes/skins that are installed via the plugin. However, I might still be interested in using some of your code. Simply because maybe I will have a web interface where users could customize such features, simular to your forms app (I am also very skilled in forms). This could be a great tool, as long as the feed back keeps coming, then I can snowball it into what people want out of Plus+.

PS: Later versions, you will simply imput a template of your site, and the addon will place the content in correct places (really simple).

  • Hello,

Beta testing for Plus+ starts  Aug. 17, 2011

So I guess 3 more days to go.

  • First I want to commend you on taking the initiative to take WSP and develop it further.  But why fork this? why not just integrate and contribute back to the core project.  It's kind of a shame we have forks already and yet the community hasn't moved forward to bring development to the WSP core project.  Great opportunity to become that community dev lead we need so badly.

  • Its been awhile since I posted, just wanted to say thank you for all your support, and I haven't forgotten about you folks. However, due to health, and money issues, I had to delay WebSitePanel Plus+.

I am very happy to let everyone know that I plan on resuming the project mid-end of September with plans for the first release on Nov. 11, 2011 (11/11/11)

I repeat, the first release is a PROOF OF CONCEPT, which means, I want to show that WSP is very flexable, and will continue working on this with future releases every 2 or 3 months. Again, I am sorry about the delay.

    Best wishes,
