Possible to make some attributes read only permanently while possible to edit some attributes? RRS feed

  • Is it possible that some attributes (like person gender) are made read only while some attribute (like person address) address are editable?

  • As far as I know, there is no such property available in SQL Server to set attribute to read only/read write.

    You can assign the user read only role to such table where you want the data read only.

  • You can create a security group in MDS like MyModel_Managers (local or domain)

    Once created, 

    click Manage Group...Click the pen Modify...Models ...deploy the tree Entities...Choose your entity...Leaf...deploy the tree Attributes...Right clik your attribute Gender...Allow Read...click Save

    You will have a green square beside your attribute which means Read Only for your group.

    Affect users to your new group in Active DIrectory or your local machine
