How to check that Office Tools (as listed when installing Office) is installed? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using a Setup project to deploy an Outlook 2010 Add-in.

I was wondering if there is a way to check whether Office Tools is installed. I am aware of this page:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff937654.aspx#Create

Which has allowed me to check for the component ID of everything apart from Office Tools. This means that my Add-in will install fine without it, but will then fail to load when you start Outlook.

Is there a Component ID for Office Tools, or some other way of checking for it's existence?

    Thanks

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

    Thank you for posting.

As far as I know, this is the official method to deploy the Office application as described in the article.

Could you make sure you have added Project Output which contains the Office tools to the set up project? In addition, try to disable other AddIns to see whether it loads successfully.

    Best Regards,
