Calendar Colors RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a SharePoint site at work with limited access to just the generic templates. I don't have access to SharePoint Designer to our production site. With that said, I have created a color overlay for different types of deployments since my calendar was getting too busy with just one color. Now, I noticed that Microsoft only gives you a choice of nine colors and they all look the same.

Is it possible to change the colors at all? I don't think SharePoint developers thought this one through enough. All colors look the same except for the pink color. I need to have solid color or at least something that can differentiate each color with my calendar.

Is it possible to change the font as well? Remember, I don't have designer access just full access to all pages. You help is much appreciated.

  • The 9 colors for the overlays are based on the site template, so if that's been changed to be pretty monotone, those colors will end up being similar.

You can use style sheets to change the colors on a page by setting the correct classes - here's a good tutorial. You should be able to do something similar with fonts - check the pages for the classes and fonts used.

I think I already looked at this site about a week ago and when I created the CSS page, the workspace became unresponsive to the point that I had to delete it. I must have done something wrong so I will try it again. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Does your SharePoint Site use branding or do you just use the simple out of the box calender overlay?

Can you please add a sample screenshot. Would be great for a better understanding.

    Thank you.

Here's a screebshot. It's just a generic sample that I wish Microsoft had left the color fields to be customized instead of predifined ones. Hope this helps.
