DCOM error 10016 with SharePoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2 RRS feed

Answers

  • Hi,

It looks like you do not take ownership of the registry key before changing the permissions.

Please select the Owner tab. Now change the owner of the key to the administrators group for example, then set full control to the administrators group. Make sure not to change the permissions for the TrustedInstaller.

See  the article Take ownership of a registry key for more information.

  • Hi,

In which step you see the Access Denied error?

I once configured it in Windows Server 2008 R2 without any issues.

  • We wanted to change the local activation settings in the DCOM configuration settings for IIS WAMREG (cmd > DCOMCNFG).

while openen the properties panel for IIS WAMREG, we noticed that the edit buttons are disabled, after some research we discovered that this is due the fact that we didn't have admin permissions on a certain register key.

While trying to change the permission on this registry item, we receive an access denied error...
