Netflix + Mavericks upgrade (Mac OS 10.9) + Silverlight 5 - Netflix stops loading at 98 percent on ANY browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

since I upgraded to Mavericks (Mac OS 10.9) I'm experiencing Netflix issues with movie preload stopping at 98 percent with EVERY browser I tried (Safari, Chrome, Firefox).

Already tried to uninstall and reinstall Silverlight, already tried to fully authorise Silverlight in Safari's sandbox settings.

Any news about a Silverlight fast update which can fix this incompatibility with Mavericks?

  • I also had the same problem on my 15inch RMBP. I did a couple of things to fix it.
First make sure you have the latest silverlight version installed. Restart your browser try it again.
If it still doesn't work then go into your browser settings (I use Safari) and make sure internet plug-ins box is unselected.
For chrome make sure you disable any extensions like flash block and make sure plugins box is either selected to click to play or run automatically. (mine is selected as click to play)
Try running netflix again. If it still doesn't work then reboot into recovery partition and repair disk and repair permissions reboot into main drive and try it. I had to reboot and repair permissions twice and it started working again.

    Lets hope this helps!

  • Had a customer that had this issue running a silverlight app from a website , which should also be your issue

I went into Safari preferences / Security tab / Internet plugins: manage website settings (then select silverlight plugin)

select 'Always allow' and select  'run in unsafe mode' for the netflix.com

I think Mavericks added a sandbox type mode for plugins, so this should be a temporary work around until Microsoft updates silverlight to fix the issue
