i.MX53 GPT(General Purpose Timer) Module. RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I am suing i.MX53 Board,OS:WINCE700

    I want to count the pulses/second on GPIO which are given externally,i found the GPT(General Purpose Timer)module is having Capture and Compare feature,if any one have idea how to use this one please guid me it will be very helpfull to me.

  • I have not worked on iMX53 GPT but with a different processor.

    You have to write your own timer driver.

    Possibly implement ioctl calls to start stop and configure the GPT.

    The read/write call shall be blocked on event triggered by the timer IST based on capture count.

    The application shall configure the timer --> start the timer ---> and block on timer event ---> stop the timer

  • If you have the iMX53_SMD or iMX53_ARD installed on your machine then check in the following directory for the stream driver of GPT.You can directly write the application using this driver.

    WINCE700\PLATFORM\COMMON\SRC\SOC\COMMON_FSL_V3\GPT\

    Yeah  i am using the same driever,i can able to initialise after intialising how i can get the number of pulses on that perticular pin if u have any sample code please share it will be helpfull to me.
