Installing Windows 8 Dev preview on a tablet

    Question

  • Hi,  I just wonder if it would be safe to install Win 8 Developer preview on a Gateway tablet running the Android OS most likely as a dual boot system!

The CPU is a NVidia 1 Ghz with 1Gig of memory and it has 64 GBs of internal memory along with 32 Gigs on an external micro SD card.

Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  • Hi guys,

i guess that was a rather stupid question on my part! :(

After doing a little research I found that there wasn't a real answer to this!

So I'll have to wait and see what type of Windows system i could use on this tablet (if any).

Thanks for your efforts, you both have my vote!

  • Taildrag,

If you tablet meets the system requirements then you should not have a problem installing the Operating System however installing the Windows Developer Preview is ultimately you decision.

You can find the System requirements and the ISO’s for the Windows Developer Preview here:

    Thanks,

  • Thank you Chris for the reply.

I totally understand that, if something goes wrong in the installation, that I can not hold you or others responsible for my mistakes :)

It looks like the x32 OS will be the choice as my tablet only has 1 GB of ram as opposed to 2 GBs but plenty of ROM (64 GBs).

I will try it and post an update with the results here.

    Thanks again,

Android tablets run on ARM processors. The Windows 8 Developer Preview is for x86/x64 only.

Maybe the next beta will have an ARM version.
