Error: Failed to delete the gateway for virtual network RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I'm trying to delete a gateway from a VNet so that I can, in turn, delete the VNet.  There are no VMs or cloud services on the VNet, just the gateway. The gateway is not connected to my on-prem network (I disconnected it). However, when I try to delete the gateway itself, I get an error back from Azure:

Error: Failed to delete the gateway for virtual network

How can I delete this gateway so that I can go on to delete the VNet?

Answers

  • Hi,

Are you trying to delete the Gateway from the Management Portal or using PowerShell?
You could try using the following PowerShell cmdlet to delete your VNET gateway:

    Remove-AzureVNetGateway –VNetName "MyProdNet"

Also, for details on why its failing you could try the cmdlet in verbose and debug mode.

    Regards,
    Malar.
