Is it alright to make changes to the data from SQL server directly? Unable to make these changes from PWA? PS 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Project Server 2010 - I understand it is not desirable to make changes in the databases directly, but there are changes that I urgently need to make which are not possible from the PWA.

Is it ok to change the data in the Reporting database or can this have adverse effects?

We have no experience with PSI programming, so cannot consider that possibility.

    thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

Generally changing the data in the SQL databases directly will invalidate the Microsoft support for your installation.  Also, from a practical point of view, changing data in the reporting database may not be a solution because the data will be overwritten in subsequent project publish operations.

The best advice would be to determine what is causing the data to be the way it is and make the appropriate changes in either PWA or Project Pro to get the result you need.

    Cheers,

       James.
