Migrate SQL SERVER 2000 DTS Pkgs to SQL SERVER 2005 RRS feed

  • Question

I currently have SQL SERVER 2000 Running. Once I upgrade that 2000 server to 2005, how do I migrate the dtspkgs that were on 2000 TO 2005?

  • Search the Internet and Microsoft's Books On-Line for your answer.  Plenty of resources out there.  Heck, even in this forum.

Is there any way my 2000 dts packages with work on sql server 2005, without MIGRATING them? I have a bunch of packages, and migrating all of them will take some time now.  I really need to move forward with upgrade.

Can you pl let me know . Thanks

  • Can a DTS package access SQL 2005?  I'm not sure but I don't see why not - should be easy for you to test out since you have 2000.  Is your 2000 server going to remain around?

I think your best bet is to migrate all of them, otherwise your going to have to go into all the packages and change the connections anyway.
