Biztalk 2006 R2 WSS Adapter on Windows 2008 X64 MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm currently at a customer of mine trying to migrate MOSS 2007 SP1 on windows 2003 x86 to MOSS 2007 SP2 on Windows 2008 x64.
It's a big migration because of all kinds of 3rd party tools/solutions and LOB systems.

Thing is dat i'm currently having a lot of issues trying to get Bizalk 2006 R2 to talk to MOSS.
I've installed the WSS adapter of Biztalk on the Server but can't seem to get it working.

It's taken me 2 days now, and i'm ready to jump ;)

Thing is that I'm not fully convinced this will even work.
Does anybody have any clue if i can install the WSS adapter on Windows 2008 (IIS7) x64?
Even the documentation is inconclusive on supporting x64.
    It runs partialy on X64?!?!?!?
If you could also point me to a location where teh configuration/installation is described, you would be a live saver

    Anyway thanks for reading this.

And a huge thanks to anyone who can send me on my way...

    With kind regards,

    Rob Smeets

  • Hi Duncan,

    Thanks for your reply...
I've finally solved it (Well a biztalk specialist did).

So for others wondering about the possibillity of using Biztalk 2006 R2 WSS adapter on Windows 2008 X64. Yes you can...

I'm not an biztalk specilist, but my collague solved the puzzle.
Just use Biztalk configuration to configure the adapter.
What's important is to configure the app pool to 'Classic'.

Thanks again, and hope this also helps others with the same question.

  • Hi Rob. Funny you should ask this now, as I recently ran into exactly the same problem... I'm afraid I don't have a good answer. The best I could come up with was to move to BTS 2009, as I couldn't get BTS 2006 talking to MOSS 2007 - but even then, the Sharepoint Adapter config wouldn't work, so I ended up having to manually configure it as described here: http://blogs.breezetraining.com.au/mickb/2009/11/02/BizTalk2009ConfiguringTheSharePointAdapterManually.aspx. So it might work with BTS 2006, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The good news is that BTS 2009 does work with  MOSS 2007 SP2 on Windows 2008 x64 - I've got it doing that here right now. OK, there are some niggles around archiving, but it does generally work.
