Integrating External Media Codecs in Windows Store App (using C#) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am a building a Media Player application for Windwos 8/RT that would support almost all Video/audio formats.

For that, i installed the K-Lite codec pack for Windows and that's working absolutely fine with the Windows Media Player on the system. But, medielement in my app is still not detecting any other formats like .MKV, .FLV, etc and only plays .mp4 & .avi.

I wanna know how can I integrate those codec packs in my project. Please provide with a detailed procedure.

Some blogs tell me to just add a Reference of the codecs to the project, But dont explain How.

I have gone through the Media extension sample from MSDN, but that even doesn't explain how to add those external codecs in the app project.

A detailed explanation would be highly appreciated, as I am completely lost at this moment.
