Application Masking and Acrobat Reader/Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone had any experience with Application masking and Adobe Reader and Acrobat DC?

Our situation is that we use Acrobat reader for most users, but a subset of users need full blown Acrobat to edit files. So, on our Citrix VDI Nonpersistant image, we installed both Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat Pro DC, and then masked pro so that only people who need access to Acrobat pro can see it.

So far, we've run into 2 problems when masking is enabled, both caused by IE Plugins.

    1) Non acrobat DC users can enable and install the Acrobat toolbar that converts webpages to PDF. It doesn't work since Pro is Masked but it shouldn't be showing up in the first place.

    2) The acrobat reader plugin refuses to work in IE if you browse to a PDF link on a site but It does work when pro unmasked. Acrobat reader works standalone regardless if masked or unmasked

Any suggestions or is there a specific way to mask acrobat correctly?

  • Similar issue here, but we cannot even get Reader and Acrobat coexist when it comes to set default apps for PDF files.  (Using FSLogix 2.9.7237 with Win10-1909 on VMware Horizon View 7.11). How can you get PDFs to open with Reader for all, but with Acrobat for those with the respective app assigned to them?

On a clear disk you can seek forever.
