Permitted use of SSCLI Tests? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Would the SSCLI license permit the adaptation of the various tests (BCL, gc, etc.) for use as test cases in an internal regression test suite of a commercial product?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  • I don't think so.  It is covered by Microsoft's Shared Source License.  The 3rd paragraph says:

You may not use or distribute this Software or any derivative works in
any form for commercial purposes.  Examples of commercial purposes
would be running business operations, licensing, leasing, or selling
the Software, or distributing the Software for use with commercial
    products.

The "use" clause and "running business operations" phrase ought to shoot a hole in your plans.  Verify with your company's counsel.
