Building Bing maps URLs for mobile platforms? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We created Bing Map URL for our application using the parameters given on this page, which was there till last week however currently the link shows the page is no longer available. My doubt is the URLs which we have created are working fine on desktop browsers , however for mobile devices like wp, iphone and android devices it is not behaving as expected. Is there a different way to create bing map URL for mobile devices?

  • Is this the URL you are looking for: This one still seems to work fine for me.

Is there a different way in which we can create BING Map URLs which shall work on all mobile platforms. Current one which i am using works for desktop browsers but fails in case of mobile devices.

Link which i want to use is like : 97023,OR

lat , long and address value is dynamic and configurable.

  • Just use the normal URL and it should switch to the mobile version automatically when opened on the device.

  • Actually the link is not working for this particular scenario : Consider I posted on my Facebook wall some text with Bing Maps URL , when my friend views the post in his news feed and clicks on then link , it is taking him to Bing Search homepage however if he comes in my profile and clicks on link from there, it is showing expected output. I am guessing this is something related to post on Facebook and newsfeed , however if there is any way using which I can make it work from newsfeed too...that will be great.

  • It also depends on which region the other person is in or their phone is set to as Bing Maps is not available everywhere due to geopolitical reasons.

  • Any more updates on this question?

I am experiencing the exact same problem right now.

I have a URL that works fine on the desktop

However, the redirect to the mobile site breaks this.

    Just try

on your desktop and you will get the same issue.

  • As mentioned before this is likely a regional thing. Your mobile URL works fine for me in the UK. Also note that the Bing Maps consumer site has nothing to do with these forums. These forums are for the Bing Maps development API's which are unrelated to the consumer site. The consumer site is nothing more than a bing maps customer who have implemented their own functionality.
