Strong Typed Objects and Schema Changes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I am reviewing for a certificate test.  Just wonder whether one question in MS reference boos is correct.  Basically, it wants to have an ORM tool to generate strong typed objects and yet the database schema changes will NOT affect the object model.  The suggested answer is "Entity Framework".  However, I cannot see how this can be done for the reason that strong typed objects have defined properties from database columns and relations, those are dynamically changing when database schema is changing.  So ...

Can anyone have some explanations for this one ...

  • Hi,

No they don't *dynamically* change. You have to ask for the object model to be updated to reflect the change in the db model. This is perhaps what they meant ?
