  • Hey Folks,

We did some additional digging and it appears that this problem is likely caused by an incompatibility between our HTML Client Preview and ReSharper. We were able to successfully reproduce the "Sequence" error that folks have been seeing. Uninstalling ReSharper cleared up the problem.

We are still investigating the root cause of the incompatibility between ReSharper and the HTML Preview but until we figure it out I recommend not using ReSharper alongside the HTML Client Preview.

    Thanks,

    Kris

  • Collateral damages.

The new template for LS non HTML throws this error

Error: this template attempted to load component assembly 'Microsoft.LightSwitch.Design.VSTemplateWizard, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'. For more information on this problem and how to enable this template, please see documentation on Customizing Project Templates.

  • Pat, do you also have LightSwitch 2011 installed SxS with VS 2012? The error you are seeing in the non-HTML case seems to suggest that it is trying to load a Lightswitch v1 template (thus looking for the 10.0 version of the template wizard).

    Thanks,

    Kris

  • Yep that nasty old standalone 2011 SKU was hiding.

I'm uninstalling it and will report back after reboot and retry.

    THANKS!

I got the error you got, but I got it last week. I uninstalled that SKU and then did a repair on the entire Visual Studio.

  • Hey Pat,

Sorry to hear that the uninstall and repair haven't fixed the issue you were having. One additional possibility that may be causing the problem is related to GAC'd files. Between v1 and v2 we removed some files from the GAC and having old ones floating around can cause issues. Specifically we would want to check is there is a copy of Microsoft.Lightswitch.dll in the GAC. If there is you should go ahead and remove it from the GAC (only do this if you have uninstalled LSv1, there is supposed to be one there for that product).

A couple of other things to mention:

    1) We have a known issue when installing LSv1 after VS2012. By any chance did you install products in that order?

    2) It is possible that one or more of the extensions may be part of the problem. I don't know how easy it is for you to get back to a point where you only have vs2012 installed (without the HTML preview) but what would help to narrow down an extension issue would be to create a new vs2012 project and turn off all of the extensions in the app designer. You could then apply the html client and try to open that project.

    Thanks,

    Kris

  • I have the same issue. I ran repair on the LightSwitch HTML Client Preview 2 (vs_lightswitchV3.exe). And it is still not working.

As for whether or not I had LSv1 installed, I do not.

I did download VS2012 from MSDN and installed it on completely new virtual machine.

  • Hey chang3d,

Please try the following as it may address the issue:

    1) Open an elevated command prompt

    2) Navigate to your Visual Studio 2012\Common7\ide folder

    3) run "devenv /setup"

This will do a bunch of work including fixing up templates that may have not gotten put down correctly.

    Thanks,

    Kris

  • I've done the step above. It still doesn't work.

I started another installation on an older server, that recently changed from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012. It's working there! So I'm just going to work from that server now.

Dunno if it's a hit or miss kind of thing...

  • Thanks for the information chang3d. By any chance did the machine that is having the problem have any of the VS2012 previews installed on it before moving to the final released version?

    Thanks,

    Kris

  • I can confirm that ReSharper is the issue. I run Windows 8, Visual Studio 2012, Resharper 7.0 and Lightswitch HTML Client.

In Visual Studio 2012 I simply suspended Resharper and tried again to create a Lightswitch HTML Client project. And this time it worked.

This is how you suspend Resharper in Visual Studio 2012.

    • Open Tools >  Options
    • Choose the ReSharper option
    • Click Suspend

  • HI Kris,

I got the same error today. I had VS2010 and LS installed before the VS2012. Everything was working fine until today. In my case, I am suspecting it is related to the latest windows update targeting VS2010 and .NET framework. I will do a repair on VS2012 and see how it goes

  • Sweet, Suspending Resharper now works for me in Update 2 CTP 4.

Is this a Lightswitch problem or Resharper?, I'd just got used to having R# in my LS projects after R# 7

    Thanks
