How to intercept Key Click event of Word? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am developing a Word AddIn and like to add an event handler for Key Click event generated from keyboard when Word users type.

    I didn't find any avaliable event from Word.Application, Word.Document, Word.ActiveWindow, ....

Could somebody kindly tell me how should I do it, or is it possible?

  • Hi Fred Yang,

As far I know, is not possible (this is a common question asked here).

A walkaround is to hook to windows key events, but I didn't try it.

    Regards,

    Mauro

  • Dear Mauro:

    Got it! TKS a lot!

I now add a custom pane that intercept the users Key Press events and send corresponding key character to Word document. Therefore, when a word is completely entered its corresponding mp3 soud file is played. Then I have have a talking typerwritter (Word) for my kids.

  • I know this is very old, but I see that Fred has replied to another question a month ago, so I hope he sees this :)

Fred, do you mind elaborating on your custom pane solution?
