Missing fix in sql server 2008 R2 Service pack 1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We had a issue with tranferring tables in the SSIS job. It will error out with the message "Empty path is illegal". It got fixed and was released as mentioned in this KB.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2537467

However after installing Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2008 R2, we noticed that this bug started happening again. Is it possible that this got missed in the service pack rollup? We tested against other combinations ( Sql server 2008 R2 only, sql 2008 SP1, sql 2008 SP2). This only happens after installing SP1 of SQL 2008 R2. Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi Gopal Ramakrishnan,

According to the KB article, this issue is fixed in Cumulative Update package 8 for SQL Server 2008 R2 (known as build 10.50.1797.0).

Since the builds are cumulative, could you please apply the most recent fix release for SQL Server 2008 R2 (you can obtain it from here) that contains this hotfix and try again?

  • Hello,

Just a little add-in to the excellent post from Stephanie Lv.

As it is explained in this link :

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2463333

SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 is including the Cumulative Updates 1 upto 6. So , as you are needing the CU 8, it is not included in the SP1.

2 solutions : you applyl the CU 8  ( which will also install the CU 7 in the same time ) or you wait the SP2 for SQL Server 2008 R2.

Don't hesitate to post again for more help or explanations.

    Have a nice day
