Unable to Install SDK 2.9 from Web Platform Installer and VS2015 RRS feed

  • Question

  • From @JonADev via Twitter

"The #Azure SDK 2.9 cannot install from Web Platform Installer and VS2015.

Still not working when installing for notification in VS. Do I need to clear a download cache.

Does not work in IE 11, or Chrome, or private mode, or run as administrator. Have Win 7 64 and VS 2015.

I am using 2015 download link.

It downloads file. Run it and it is Web PI 5.0. Error says could not find product I tried to install.

Error is on Spotlight page. The sdk 2.9 is listed in the Windows Azure section."

    Thank you,

    @AzureSupport

  • Hey folks

    Couple of items

    1) Web Platform Installer (WebPI) has it's own set of forums here: http://forums.iis.net/1155.aspx.

    2) For those on this thread, if you are still having a problem doing an install using WebPI, please do the following:

    • Grab the latest log file from %localappdata%\Microsoft\web platform installer\logs\webpi
    • Mail it to webpi@microsoft.com and I'll take a look

    Thanks

    Chris

  • Hi Bryan,

This sounds like an issue with the Azure SDK installer, not with Azure Search. I'll move this thread once I figure out what the correct forum should be.

  • Me three.  I've tried:

    - The download link for VS2015 from https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-visual-studio-azure-tools-and-sdk-2-9/

    - The download link for VS2015 from https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/

Both of these ultimately download a file called VWDOrVs2015AzurePack.exe.  When you run it, it starts the Web PI which then tells me that SDK Version 2.8.2.1 is already installed.

Next, I copied the installer I'd saved locally earlier in the day (prior to trying the links above).  This file is named VWDOrVs2015AzurePack.2E2.2E9.exe and I downloaded it via the blog link above.  The fact that the filename was different earlier in the day and that the "current" file refers to 2.8.2.1 seems to indicate that the 2.9 SDK was pulled?  Either way, when I run the "2E2" exe, it launches the Web PI and the proceeds to tell me "Microsoft Web Platform Installer couldn't find the product you tried to install."

Alrighty then. If I go back to the search page in Web PI and search for "Azure 2.9" (and various permutations), no results are returned.

    WTF?

  • Same problem here. I have VS 2015 Update 2 and have the problem for both Azure SDK 2.9 and Service Fabric 2.0.

Also from Extensions and Update in VS, it tells me that Azure SDK 2.9 is available but when I click on it, it shows me  Platform Installer with the 2.8.2.1 as already installed.

Tried flushing my DNS cache and internet cache without success.
