Has anyone fromMicrosoft provided a solution to: How to increase width of a list in SharePoint Designer 2013? RRS feed

  • Question

  • There are some answers, but since SPD does not have a Design View, Microsoft should provide information or an easy way to adjust something so important without having to go through so much.  I have tried the JQuery solution and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

    There needs to be a clear, standard way to change column widths in SP 2013.

  • Hi,

    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to change the column’s width in a list by using SharePoint Designer 2013.

    I recommend that you can open the list’s AllItems.aspx page in SharePoint Designer 2013 and add the following code under the <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderId="PlaceHolderMain" runat="server"> tag.

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.min.js"></script>

                    <script type="text/javascript">

                    $(document).ready(function() {

                    $("TH.ms-vh2:contains('Title')").css("width", "300px");

    });

    </script>

    And, if you would like to modify another column’s width, you can replace “Title” with another column’s name.

    The result is as below:

  • Thanks Linda, I'll try this solution and provide my feedback then.  There still needs to be an easier way to change the column widths in Designer.
