Could not find the Database Engine startup handle RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am installing Microsoft SQL Express 2012 on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. The server is standalone (Work Group)

I am getting this error during the installation "Could not find the Database Engine startup handle"

and it failed to install Database Engine service and SQL Server Replication.

    See the attached screenshot.

Please help me to fix the same..

    Thanks, Manoj

  • In the setup logs folder you should have a file with name "SQLServer_ERRORLOG_<DATETIME>"

Please have a look at that file and check why SQL is unable to start.

  • Are you sure that SAN provided by HP?

Can you please make sure that hardware firmware is up-to-date? I was able to get some issues with other storage vendors and it was solved by applying latest patch for hardware.
