  • How to access a folder on microsoft azure from public pc using standard \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sharedfolder approach

  • Hi Sandeep, Though its a good practice and its recommended to use a VPN tunnel to Azure Vnet (either Site2Site or Point2Site) 

    You can follow the below steps to achieve your requirement 

    Step 1 - Create the Azure VM  (I asusme you already completed this)
    Step 2 - Open PowerShell window on the virtual machine and execute the following command to persist your storage account credentials on the VM virtual machine. 

    cmdkey /add:<storage-account-name>.file.core.windows.net /user:<storage-account-name> /pass:<storage-account-key>

    Step 3 - Map the Persistant Drive from your machine by issuing the following back ground 

    net use <drive-letter>: \\<storage-account-name>.file.core.windows.net\<share-name>

    Sample : net use S: \\storageaccountname.file.core.windows.net\logs
