Cannot publish extension RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a free browser extension we want to have approved by MS and offered in its store. We were informed to do this we needed to purchase the Windows and Windows Phone Annual Developer Registration for $99.00, which we did on December 21,2017. But we cannot complete package submission due to not having permission to upload extension with .appx file. The error asking to submit existing extension for review which we did almost two months ago from this page https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/extensions/requests/. But we never received any kind of response on that.

Additionally, there is no place to initiate communication in the dashboard link they sent us and we have waited almost a month without further communications. Please let me know the status of our application and what we need to do next.

  • Hi Jody,

You might see the article in this blog: https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/2017/09/29/microsoft-edge-extensions-one-year-later

Currently, they are prioritizing only the most popular extensions. They will relook at your extension at a future point in time.  So you need to wait some time.

  • Hi Zhendong,

Thank you for your reply and link. I see numerous others that are having the exact same experience as we are.

The post in the above link makes it sounds like MS is not openly accepting extension submission unless they meet a predetermined list of desired functionalities. If that is the case, how can MS sell a $99 developers package to develop an extension when they are not accepting submissions? This seems very unethically and we paid our money in good faith only to find out that we cannot even submit our extension for consideration. If they are not accepting open submission they should make that very clear in the section explaining we need to acquire this package.

    Best regards,
