VBA IE7 Hyperlink Bug??? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Why is it when I have this:

    Sub Auto_Open()

        ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink "
    http://plus.cnbc.com/player/main.do"

    End Sub

    I get this:

    https://login.cnbc.com/cas/login?service=http://plus.cnbc.com/j_acegi_cas_security_check;jsessionid%3D812918B8EFF1754C3AF91C834C50188E&login-view=video&partner-code=null

    for the webpage that is opened???

    Is this a security feature and if so, can it be overridden for particular web addresses?

    Note: I do have a cookie present that has my username and password and it works just fine when I open the link manually......maybe a cookie permission needs to be changed???

    I also have a problem directly opening IE using:

    Sub Auto_Open()

        ActiveWorkbook.FollowHyperlink "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

    End Sub

    because I get the popup that says:

    "Opening
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

    Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer.  It is important to be certain that this file is from a trustworthy source.

    Would you like to open this file?"

    and then it gives a yes or no option.  How can I get rid of this popup as well?

    Thanks,
    Mike
