symbolic links or junction links aren't returned by StorageFolder.GetItemsAsync

    Question

  • Hello,

Symbolic links and junction links are not appeared in File Picker and Folder Picker. Nor are they returned by StorageFolder.GetItemsAsync method.

Is there a way to get these links in a Windows Store app?

Why are these links not visible in the RT environment?

    Thanks!

  • This is by-design behaviour specific for Windows Store apps which has limited access to local file system.

Some functions related to symbolic link are for desktop only. Please check CreateSymbolicLink and related references for more details.

  • Thank you Min, The question was from one of our App user's feedback. Some Win RT tablet users like to store their data in SD, and use junction link to access them. Showing these links would be much more convenient for them. Thank you for taking care of this!
