how to access to a user profile "disk" to rescue some settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    Only a short question

We are using FSLogix in our Azure WVD environment. And its working well.

Except for one user.....here there must be some errors in the profile wirtten. For exapmple, he cannot open IE or Edge nayme, and also other Apps are "not found or working" in the desktop anymore.

Se he logged off, and we decided to give him a NEW profile. (cut Off the old folder)

    And all works fine.....

But the question is now...he has stored favorites. How we can get them? The user profile is like a disk.....which cannot be mounted with a click :-)

What can be done with this file?

  • Have a look at "FSLogix Disk Management Utility" i think that is what your searching for.

  • Just mount the disk (as any other VHD(X)) and assign it a drive letter. Then you can browser it, and copy out the files needed.

You could also log on one more time with the "defect" profile disk, and copy the necessary file to users home folder or something, and then switch back to the new one again.

  • There is also the frxcontext util which also loads the whole registry hive : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/fslogix/disk-management-utility-reference#alternate-mount--unmount

Maybe this doesnt help You anymore for this problem but maybe in Future for offline Edith of regkeys or exporting Them.
